Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a relatively common condition in women where the cells of the lining of the womb plant themselves on other areas such as the ovaries, bowel surfaces, rectum etc. When found inside the muscle wall of the womb, the condition is called Adenomyosis.

Pain is the principal symptom but it may also manifest itself as infertility, cyst in the ovary, or blood in stools. Women often suffer for many years before they are diagnosed because doctors do not suspect the condition.
