Ovarian Cysts

Ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sacs in the ovary. They are often silent and harmless and only detected on ultrasound but occasionally they could cause pain due to bursting, twisting or bleeding into the cyst. Awareness is important because while many cysts are harmless, persistent or painful ones should be fully evaluated to rule out more serious conditions including ovarian cancer.

After investigations, we will be your partner in deciding what to do as we have a range of services for dealing with ovarian cysts – monitor (repeat ultrasound scans), hormonal treatment (for ovarian cysts due to endometriosis), laparoscopic ablation (keyhole operation to burn the capsule) or laparoscopic excision of the cyst.
